Xambrian
Xambrians resemble the Ariane in stature but are distinguished by their bone-white skin and long, raven-black hair. They typically dress in black strider hide and wear gauntlets fashioned from fine silver mesh.
History and the Holocaust
The Xambrians are the survivors of a peaceful civilization that was nearly exterminated by a cult of black wizards known as the Torquarans.
- The Firepits: Untold thousands of their ancestors perished in the Firepits of Malnangar.
- The Vow: The few who escaped into the Wilderlands swore an unbreakable oath to find and bring the murderers of their people to justice.
Society of Outcasts
Xambrians have no homeland, no clans, and no families.
- Birth: They do not marry, and mating is possible only between two Xambrians. Infants are typically abandoned at birth to trusted surrogate families to allow the parents to continue their dangerous work.
- Childhood: Xambrian children grow up as outcasts, often hearing "voices" or experiencing hallucinations.
- Thirteenth Birthday: On the eve of their thirteenth year, they receive a vision from an ancestral spirit that explains their heritage and begins their training as Wizard Hunters. [^1]
The Calling and the Vendetta
At any time after their first vision, a Xambrian may receive "the Calling"—a summons from spirit guides to hunt a reincarnated Torquaran.
- Omen: They are directed to travel to Omen, the mountain of skulls, where they are invested with spiritual strength.
- Persistence: Once a Calling is received, the Xambrian will not rest until the vendetta is carried out.
