Linguistics
The study of languages. An individual who studies linguistics will be able to learn how to speak, read, and write one new language at a rating of “Fluent” per level, including any ancient or “dead” language; alternatively, a language already rated at Fluent can be improved to a rating of “Native.” Linguists can also identify languages that they do not know, at a penalty based on the unknown language’s degree of difficulty (age, obscurity, complexity, etc.). Scholars with this skill may seek employment as translators.
